It became a municipality on 16 November 1992 and became a town. On 12 November 2012, it became a neighborhood with the law numbered 6360, which was accepted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

While it was a small village until the early 1980s, after 1980, with the tourism incentives, many holiday neighborhoods were built on the coast and it became one of the important holiday resorts of Turkey. Unlike other holiday regions with neighboring towns such as Kiriş and Tekirova, it attracts tourists with large holiday villages rather than small hotels and hostels.

Located 7 kilometers south of Kemer town centre, Camyuva is also extremely close to touristic places such as Olympos and Phaselis.
